Odd is one part creative maverick, one part music promoter, two parts cosmic traveller and multiple parts a DJ with many facets and sounds all rolled into a ball of excitement and energy ready to be unleashed onto dance floors near you.
The one thing that strikes you about Odd, is that he is a rather odd character indeed. Look up the meaning in any dictionary. Synonyms like quirky, eccentric, funny, quaint and zany immediately jump out at you. Friendly to a fault. Yet when you start speaking with him, you immediately get to see a deeper personality starting to emerge. Dig a bit deeper and you go down a rabbit hole of wonder, fun,
excitement and surprises. That is also pretty much how you would describe one of Odd’s DJ sets. No two experiences are ever the same. A keen student of the sounds of breathtaking labels such as Osgut Ton, Atmophile Electronics, Hypnus, X/OZ, Illegal Alien, Harmony Rec. He is also a truly unique performer that takes the energy of whichever dance floor is in front of him. Carefully weaving house, progressive, techno and beyond into a story that keeps you progressing deeper into your night (or day).
From the regional night scene in the urban jungle of KL post the non-apocalyptic Y2k. The rave scene of the tropical jungles of Kho Phangan. Plus, onward into the unorthodox mayhem of the European psytrance festival scene. Whether it was getting stuck into the production behind the scenes of Modem Festival. Playing to over 8000 way up front in a Hungarian Festival. Or taking the dark and groovy dance floor of the Sweatbox (KL), Odd has been a keen sponge absorbing music, energies, experiences and connections. It is this collective accumulation of cosmic experiences and learnings that have turned Odd into the masterful dance floor destroyer cum storyteller that he is.
This keen and creative craftsman is starting to take some of the region’s dance floors on his new journey into techno and house. In a short space of time, KL has seen him ably open up for some stellar international acts like YouandMe, Rhyw, Mark Jackus, Stelios Vassiloudis, Nakadia, Exos, Markus Henrikkson, Ness, Deepbass, Luigi Tozzi and One Of Them. Keep an eye and ear for his next set somewhere out should you want a sonically challenging, spiritually satisfying and strangely Odd good time.
Odd is part of the Voidrealm Collective.
