In the world of electronic dance music, the term “Pioneer” is not gained easily. It is one you have to earn through years of breaking boundaries and taking chances with your work and skills. More specifically, in the Bangkok electronic music industry, there is a select group of artists who can rightfully put their name alongside such a tag, and one person who can carry such an accolade is Mikey Mike.
With a career stretching over 20 years as one of Thailand’s most respected names in electronic music and clubbing, Mikey is highly regarded as the driving force behind the tech-house sound that today’s Bangkok club scene is built on.
His career has seen him play to up for it crowds across the globe with residencies in Bangkok’s most iconic clubs such as Bed Supperclub, Q Bar, Narcissus, Sing Sing Theater, Levels and C’est La Vie Bangkok.
He has also played around the globe at notable venues such as Baby’s at the Hard Rock Hotel – Las Vegas, Decibel Club – San Francisco, Home Club – Los Angeles, Zouk Singapore & Kuala Lumpur, Embassy Club Jakarta, Drop Club Hong Kong, and numerous other venues across Europe, London and Australia.
Not only is Mikey highly adept at playing large clubs, he can augment his sound and musical style to fit any type of venue. From luxury hotel brands to bars and lounges such as The Shangri-La Hotel, Soneva Kiri, Amanpuri Phuket, The Four Seasons Bangkok, The Anantara Siam, Hotel Muse, The St. Regis and The Park Hyatt Bangkok. To Fashion Shows and product launches at Los Angeles Fashion Week and The Miami Winter Music Conference for international retail fashion brands Calvin Klein, The Gap and Armani Exchange to name a few.
It’s clear to see that Mikey Mike is a world-class powerhouse DJ and artist.
Inspired by the sounds of his tough-talking DJ sets, his sound has been rejuvenated of late by deep house, house and techno. Have a listen to his DJ mixes where loops, FX and samples are intricately laced with exceptional accuracy or his studio tracks where he’s known to experiment with sounds and compositions for days on end, this exploration of deeper, darker sounds seems a logical and natural progression.
Mikey has gone on to play around the world with some of the biggest names in the business. From Cafe Del Mar’s Jose Padilla, My Digital Enemy, Calvin Harris, Derrick May, Lee Burridge, Danny Howells, Claptone, Derrick Carter, Jimmy Van M, Pablo Ceballos, Bob Sinclar, Martin Solveig, DJ Garth, Doc Martin, Terry Francis, Diesel from X-Press2, M.A.N.D.Y., Paul Oakenfold, Roger Sanchez, Judge Jules, Sven Vath and many more.
He has completed remixes for Hardcore Lounge and Farrad. He is also currently working on his own original productions. These have been released through top UK House label Zulu Records. Ths is under the production name of “FREQS” with his studio partner and collaborator DJ Nudisko.
You can also find him mixing DJ compilations for world-famous brands such as In Bed with Space among others.
