Andy Wadlow

Andy Wadlow is another DJ coming out of the ‘’Steel City’’, Sheffield. In the North of England. Andy became heavily influenced by the mid-’80s hip hop scene and then latterly the Detroit & Chicago House explosion.

Born & raised in the “steel city”, it was difficult not to be influenced by the Warp Records bleep techno era. With a nod to the forefathers of the scene, such as Forgemasters, Kid Unknown, Nightmares on Wax et al. Other influences included US labels such as Nu Groove, Strictly Rhythm, and the Miami sound of Bottomline to name but a few.

Brought up on Hip Hop, Soul, Disco, Funk and Early Electronic music. All elements that he utilizes in his DJ sets and mixes.

Andy Wadlow is a resident DJ for the premium underground Sheffield event, Secret Loft Party. SLP boasts a musically varied roster of DJ’s playing the finest Nu Disco, Deep & Soulful House and Funk.

Andy started his DJing career in the early ’90s with his first residency at the legendary nightclub The Palais, playing at The Tufty Club a night that encouraged DJs to play a variety of music. From straight-up house in the main room to Rare Groove & Funk in the 2nd room.

Throughout the ’90s & ’00s, Andy could be found playing mainly on the Sheffield house scene playing clubs such as Wicker Arches, Occasions, Bed & Brown Street. With the odd forage playing events in the Midlands and London.

The mid-’90s saw Andy set up his own night Super Fresh at Josephine Bakers, which paid homage to the Sheffield graffiti scene. This event encouraged DJ’s to play anything from ’80s Soul through to House and Techno.

Throughout the 00’s Andy was resident at Souled Out, hosted at Bed, where he could be found dropping Hip Hop & Soul classics in the VIP room and Quality located at Brown Street where he continued with his more familiar sound of US House music.

After a short layoff, Andy is back enjoying playing his residency at SLP.  Plus a host of new events planned for 2022. Watch this space…
