Today, we meet Dava Di Toma, as part of our ‘Kao Na’ artist interview series.

9 is a lucky number in Thailand. 9 also means forward stepping or progress. Kao Na  or 9 forward.

1.) First things first, what is your favourite Thai meal?
Massaman Chicken Curry

2.) Tell us more about you.
I’m a DJ, a producer, and a promoter living in Koh Phangan. Because I was born in Belgium, I am also half Italian, half Belgian. I have been DJing for 35 years already and I am the founder of the SOLAR Conexion concept. Also, I DJ on Kondo Beach Show and Ibiza Live Radio.

3.) How did you start DJing?
35 years ago, I started organising New Wave parties in my city. Of course, it was with vinyl and tapes back then, which were impossible to mix properly. Then again, it was more about feelings and the vibes. After this, the New Beat generation came into Belgium, and then, House music started.

4.) What genres do you play?
I am very open to different genres. I like to make a story when I play. So, I like to start down and move on up slowly. So, my genres are Chill, Deep House, Afro House, Downtempo, Organic House, Progressive House, Melodic Tech & House and, Techno.

5.) Who or what are your music influences?
My influences are, of course, progressive sounds from artists like Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, John Digweed, Sasha, Bedouin, and many more.

6.) Favourite place to party?
Koh Phangan or course.

7.) Are you making your own music? Do you have any tracks out? Or do you have other creative projects to share?
Before I did. Now, I have way less time and I am always busy with my radio shows, listening to new tracks every day, and busy with my SOLAR Conexion project.

8.) What is your all-time favourite track?
“Time” by Pachanga Boys  “Time” by Pachanga Boys

Very nice project to help promote artists. I give my full support!
